Understanding the contact between the very low-grade metagreywacke of the Eastern Series and high-pressure metamorphosed schist of the Western Series in the Late Palaeozoic accretionary wedge of central Chile is fundamental for the understanding of the evolution of ancient accretionary wedges. OWL ontologies and Entity Relation Diagrams are the most widespread representations whose alignment allows for semantic data access via ontology interface, and ontology storing techniques. Las proteínas p24 constituyen una familia única de proteínas transmembrana de tipo I, con un peso molecular aproximado de 24 kDa, que se localizan mayoritariamente en los compartimentos de la vía secretora temprana, retículo endoplásmico (ER) y complejo de Golgi, y son componentes mayoritarios de las vesículas recubiertas por proteínas COPI o COPII. Effects of transcranial direct current stimulation on esophageal motility in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease

To evaluate the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on esophageal peristalsis in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).Patients with GERD preliminary diagnosis were included in a randomized double-blind sham-controlled study. Esophageal manometry was performed before and during transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the right precentral cortex. Half of patients were randomly assigned to anodal, half to sham stimulation. Latvijas Universitātes Muzeja Botānikas un mikoloģijas kolekcijās glabājas unikāls eksponāts – sēņu mulāža, kas piederējusi Baltijas dabaspētniekam F. E. Štollam (1874 – 1966) un tikusi izmantota izglītības procesā. Iespējams, ka tā ir vienīgā Latvijā saglabājusies vēsturiskā sēņu mulāža.
New experimental molecular stopping cross section data of Al2O3, for heavy ions

Abstract Molecular stopping cross section data of Al2O3, for heavy ions of 12C, 16O, 28Si, 35Cl, 79Br within the energy range of 0.01–1.0 MeV/nucleon were measured. Both direct transmission and bulk analysis methods were applied. Stopping cross sections were calculated both with the SRIM and MSTAR codes. Evaluation and intercomparison of the new data with the calculated and previously measured ones are reported in this paper.
HOWERD: A Hidden Markov Model for Automatic OWL-ERD Alignment

The HOWERD model for estimating the most likely alignment between an OWL ontology and an Entity Relation Diagram (ERD) is presented. Automatic alignment between relational schema and ontology represents a big challenge in Semantic Web research due to the different expressiveness of these representations. A relational schema is less expressive than the ontology; this is a non trivial problem when accessing data via an ontology and for ontology storing by means of a relational schema. 1925. gada jūnijā Baltijas dabaspētnieks Ferdinads Erdmanis Štolls (1874 – 1966) Garciema smilšu kāpās atklāja jaunu sēņu sugu, kam tika dots nosaukums Coprinus dunarum F. E. Stoll, latviski – kāpu tintene. Zinātnieks sēnes fiksēja un detalizēti aprakstīja. Atraduma fotouzņēmumi un akvareļi ir iekļauti viņa vairāk kā 1000 vienību lielajā F. E. Štolla sēņu attēlu kolekcijā, kuru pamatā veido F. E. Štolla zīmētie akvareļi, kas glabājas Latvijas Universitātes muzeja Botānikas un mikoloģijas kolekcijās.
